I have included a short how to video about RSS subscriptions from a site I really like commoncraft.com. They have excellent videos that explain complex things in plain english. In the words of the site creators ….
Our product is explanation.
We use a simple format and real-world stories to make sense of complex ideas.
We’re interpreters. We present your products and services in plain English using short, unique and understandable videos in a format we call Paperworks.
Please enjoy the video and feel free to subscribe to our blog or our podcast
As many of our regular viewers know March 18th marks the one year anniversary for the ObsessedWithTech podcast. I want to thank all of our viewers (and give a special welcome to new viewers as well as a deep heart felt thank you to all of the viewers who have stuck with us from the beginning). All of your support and encouragement has meant a great deal to me. Your feedback has helped shape this podcast and is continuing to take it in new and exciting directions. Please keep the email coming I love to hear what you liked and also what you think just didn’t work. As you know, I am new at this… but I am loving the learning process (i have found that the learning curve is steep but also very exciting). So this is what I learned from my first year as a podcaster (wow! I just realized that was my first time saying that… it felt REALLY GOOD) and what it has meant for me.
~ it is addictive (in a good way I hope …. because I am hooked FTW)
~The Community is Awesome (meeting fellow Podcasters (felt even better saying that) and Viewers is what I love the most about it)
~Hard work yes …. worth it in the end… Definitely!
~I like that the podcast can be what I want it to be… something very liberating (@ times overwhelming) about deciding everything (content, research, time, length, shots, guests, promoting etc..) and being able to change it up when needed
~In many ways the whole thing was new to me (the tech I knew- but the production side (on camera and off was VERY new to me… and when I watch (or listen) to seasoned podcasters… I see just how new it still is to me)
In addition to the above grand discoveries about podcasting and myself… I have acquired an exponentially expanding skill set of what buttons to push, what settings work, audio tips, shooting styles, format styles, content creation ideas and a better understanding of what obsessedwithtech means to me. Once again I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this discovery and by extension helped shape the path of this show. I also would like to send a special thanks to those who have gone the extra mile for our podcast this year:
note: in no particular order because all of them are outstanding members of our Tech Community Shawn Swickard (by far the most supportive and active viewer of the podcast) Leo Laporte (great podcasting advice and for just being Leo) Sean Carruthers and Andy Walker (for technical advice, content contribution and kindness) Chris Pirillo (for content, patience and giving us geeks an exciting place to hang out on the net for a while) Cali Lewis and Neal Campbell (for technical advice, future possibilities and indirectly responsible for me finding “Pamela” Will Pate (being so down to earth and future possibilities) Veronica Belmont (future possibilities) Molly McDonald (freely giving us use of her excellent screencasts) Mike Chandler (advice on getting started in podcasting)
On this episode we look at a new web 2.0 app called Drop.io. We introduce our new Celebrity Tech segment with our first guest Sean Carruthers. Sean shares with OwT what he is obsessing over right now.
Have you ever wondered what tech our favorite celebrities are into? I did!
Now by celebrity I mean the Wikipedia definition:
“A celebrity is a widely-recognized or famous person who commands a high degree of public and media attention”. I will add to that definition those that garner our respect in a particular field.
Starting next episode we will introduce a new segment for the show that I am very excited about called Celebrity Tech. In the segment we will ask “celebrities” just one question, What tech are you obsessing over right now? We will start with our tech community and branch out from there to entertainment, sports and political celebrities.
So… on to the details. I have started to send out the first batch of emails to prominent members of our tech community asking them if they would be willing to answer the question for us. I asked if they would provide any of the following: a picture and quote, a short audio clip, a video clip, skype interview or other of their choice. So far the response has been overwhelming. I have received responses from over half of the emails I sent out. Most of those who have replied have agreed to be a part of it (a few have said that now is not a good time… but in a few weeks or so they would). The kindness of individuals in our tech community has overwhelmed me to say the least. I can’t even begin to imagine the work load they have … and for them to take time out to do this speaks volumes about them as individuals.
So stay tuned for our first segment of celebrity tech. If you have someone you want to know about leave a comment or email me @ [obsessedwithtech at gmail dot com] and I will ask them for you.
